Designed around the camera
Each holder is developed from the original back interface so register depth, rail engagement and film position remain the priority.
Classic Film Holders develops newly manufactured sheet-film holders for early plate cameras, starting with 9x12 cm models whose original cassettes are scarce, incomplete or too fragile for regular use.
The goal is straightforward: preserve the original character of the camera while making it practical to load, expose and process readily available sheet film today.
Each holder is developed from the original back interface so register depth, rail engagement and film position remain the priority.
The design focuses on practical use with currently available sheet film, without asking collectors to rely on rare original inserts.
Designed, assembled and individually checked in Switzerland, with development driven by real cameras rather than catalogue assumptions.
Many classic 9x12 cameras survive with good lenses and working shutters, but without usable holders. In other cases, original cassettes exist yet are difficult to load consistently, missing parts, or no longer trustworthy for light-tight field use.
Classic Film Holders focuses on replacement holders that respect the camera's original geometry while reducing the friction of actually making photographs with it.

The first holder in development is a 9x12 cm model for the ICA Volta family. It is intended for photographers who have a working camera body but need a reliable, newly made holder for practical use.
The holder concept, core construction, and the primary ICA Volta development platform are established.
Final fit tolerance, film-plane accuracy, dark-slide handling and long-term light-tightness under regular use.
